#1 Goalkeeping was set up in April 2006 as
specialist goalkeeping was very limited in the
Ipswich area and there was a need for it. It was set
up by Scott Peat and Karl Daniels initially because
of the lack of competition at academy level. The
idea was that if local goalkeepers were given the
opportunity of regular goalkeeper coaching then this
would help them when going into a professional
environment.
Although this is still an aim of the coaching it
also allows goalkeepers of all abilities to come and
learn all aspects of goalkeeping in a friendly
environment.
The first #1 Goalkeeping centres
started in September 2006 at Woodbridge FC and
Debenham leisure centre, this proved very popular
and by the end of the same season #1 Goalkeeping had
a further venue at Claydon Football Club.

Daniel - Former Rushden & Diamonds & Wales U19
Goalkeeper currently coaching Elite & Development
goalkeeper at a professional club Academy. Scott
Peat - Current Academy goalkeeper coach at a local
professional football club.

What is the subscription service? Well it
is a union, that #1 Goalkeeping has setup in
order to help goalkeepers of any age and any
club. It works in a way that any goalkeeper
can register their details with us and in
return we will put their details onto a
database. These details can be accessed by
new clubs, scouts and managers by
contacting us and show an interest for a
goalkeeper. We will then pass the details of
the manager or scout onto the goalkeeper.
