Cent OS adding port into iptables - command line SSH

The following can be used to allow connections to a port from any IP. Use the simple line below to accept a port in iptables.

To allow HTTP port 80
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT


To allow DNS port 53
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT


To add any port just change the number to the required port

Scheduled Server Updates

We have scheduled server updates taking place between 25 July to 31 July. During this period services such as Mail, FTP and databases will not been down this is just software updates and will be taking place mainly during the morning. Any required reboots will take place at around 4:00AM morning and will take maximum of 5 minutes to return to normal state.


Server Updates 11 - 12 April

Over the next few hours our backend servers will see some updates down time should be avoided however there are updates and if traffic increase backup system may not be able to handle while systems are upgraded.

All services should resolve up break of dawn on the 12 April. 


Control Panel Temp - Rapid Disk Increase

Manage those temp connections to your servers. Make sure you clean /tmp as it adds to the users local.

So do the following

cd /tmp

//to view the dir

ls -l

//remove sessions, replace ses* with what is required. Do not remove as it could remove required files.

rm -f -r ses*


Change Hostname - Control Panel - via SSH

cPanel 11 WHM will most likely solve all these errors, however, if you still facing problem, try the following steps to change hostname properly:

  • Login to server via SSH as root.
  • Run the following command to change host name: hostname servername.domain.com
  • Change servername.domain.com to a hostname you desired based on your domain name.
  • Run the following command to update cPanel license information to avoid invalid cPanel license error: /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt


Control Panel Root & Reseller & Control Panel for iPhone - Remote Wipe

Remote Wipe for Control Panel Root & Control Panel for iPhone applications has been released. You need to keep track of your device UDID and your username and you can wipe your device from any computer. 

If your device is lost or stole you can wipe the device from your settings. Option to remote wipe is available here. 

Remote Wipe clears all settings and sets them to blank apart from the username to remotewipe. This means the application is now useless to anyone unless you go back to it and enter the vaild information

iPhone - Hotmail, Live, MSN Email Setup - POP3 &am

These most likely also work on other platforms other than the iPhone 

Ok, Many people use various applications for the App Store and pay to use there Hotmail account its actually free to connect using the stand application via POP3 & SMTP.

Use the follow settings to connect using Mail App on iPhone 

Firstly setup an mail account as "Other" the following details are then to be used. Enter username and password. Click "Next".

Important: Make sure you select POP3 at the top

Incoming Setup

Host Name: pop3.live.com

User Name: username@hotmail.co.uk

Password: password

 

SSL: ON

Port: 995

 

Outgoing Setup

Host Name: smtp.live.com

User Name: username@hotmail.co.uk

Password: password

 

SSL: ON

Port: 587

 

These settings work like a treat on my iPhone. Currently i use my own email server and Exchange so i will not be using this feature however many people do use this an i've setup this up on a couple of people's iPhones now and it works

How do i check my internet Mbps ?

Q. Well im tryin to get a better internet speed but idk wats my mbps because i think theres this one offer from comcast thats 12mbps with power boost and i wanted to make sure if i get it im not gettin the same speed i had before.
